How to Save Money on Replacing a New Roof

Roof replacement is one of the most expensive home repairs you’ll ever have. Begin by picking up a copy of your local re-roofing regulations before considering any cost-saving tips. Many localities now require upgrades to keep your roof in place during severe weather. This means higher costs for modern technology, including extra hardware and better water barriers.
  1. Select a new roof contractor with trained installers and a history of successful roof installations.
  2. Replace roof during economic downturns or during the “off-season.” During these times, roofers often offer discount prices to keep employees working.
  3. Select quality materials for the re-roofing operation. Inexpensive materials might cost less in the short term. But they will also have a shorter roof life, and you’ll wind up paying for another repair sooner than you’d like.
  4. Reuse roof flashing and metal work in good condition. Not all the old roofing materials need replacement. Ask the installer if reuse roofing materials if possible.

I agree with asking to reuse some of the old roof that doesn’t need to be replaced. I think that some people will just have everything be replaced and not realize that some of it can be salvaged. I personally would have them reuse as much as possible. Thanks for the information.
